3D Studio Max has provided artists and developers with a visual scripting tool to develop custom modifiers, tools and extended functionality.
This MCG tutorial explores the deforming modifiers that are aware and reactive to other geometry in the scene. This is method for ‘faking’ soft body collisions and interaction wherein geometry is pushed outward along its normal, but when it interests with target geometry the ‘push’ modifier is limited. This can be used to produce very effects that look very physical, but are quite simple and inexpensive.
